This here is a view of Macchu Picchu from Wayna Picchu. Kathy and I arrived in Aguas Calientes the day before and got supplies for our next day adventure. Our intent was on climbing Wayna Picchu, but several people had told us that we would have to get in line at about 2.30 am in order to get the tickets. With our hopes lightly trampled we managed to get to the bus line at 4.30 am and made it to the gates at about 6.00 am. We had intended to hike up to Macchu Picchu from Aguas Calientes, but made the wisest decision and took a bus.
This is Wayna Picchu. Our goal for the day was to climb up this little beasty. After our guided tour of Macchu Picchu, that convieniently dropped us off at the entrance to Wayna Picchu we started our hike to the top. The hike up Wayna Picchu is incredibly beautiful with amazing views of Macchu Picchu and amazing ruins. The distance of the hike is fairly short, but the elevation gain is about 1200 feet! Which for us was pretty rough. The stairs on the hike up are definately sketchy, and near the top you have to crawl through a little cave and climb up an after thought of a ladder. It was fun.
This is the sun beasty. He was running all around on top of Wayna Picchu. This is my favorite picture of the day. I hope you enjoy him acting all coy.
Great pictures! How was the flight? How is the hiking going? Eaten any interesting foods there?
ReplyDeleteThe food is mostly great stuff, but it can be hit-or-miss. Considering that we ususally have no idea what we´re ordering and generally just pick somthing on the fly, I think we´re doing pretty good. :)
